We are helping elders live with dignity despite the challenges of poverty.

Ensuring community elders are cared for, comforted and never forgotten – even when families are struggling.

Supporting the community’s elders: from medical care to part-time employment.
01
Why Our Help is Crucial

In Sri Lanka, caring for elders has always been a proud tradition within families and communities. But today, with rising costs and financial hardship, many families are increasingly unable to provide adequate care for elderly relatives.

02
Our Solution

In response, Metta Trust supports local care homes, and provides a sense of purpose and source of income through part-time employment:

  • Annual – Providing token jobs, such as garden sweeping and tapping rubber, for elderly who are too proud to accept donations but can earn a salary
  • 2025 – Donation to local care home with over 100 residents
  • 2022 – Sponsored the entertainment show organised by the community’s Elderly People’s Society to bring joy and connection
  • 2019 – Organised Christmas event and gifts at local care home
  • 2017 – Supported the construction of a safe water system at local care home

03
Future Goals

We aim to continue our retirement jobs scheme to ensure local elders have a sense of purpose in the community and can make a living. Additionally, we aspire to grow our support for local care homes that provide essential services for those families unable to.
