Our Mission: Building Happy Communities

Everyone deserves a life of well-being, support from their communities, and harmony with nature, paving the way for future generations to thrive free from poverty, poor mental health, and environmental degradation.

As a Non-Profit Organisation, We Aim To Tackle Three Core Objectives:
01
Our Mission is to Improve the Lives of Impoverished Communities in Sri Lanka

Metta Trust began by supporting local villagers in Nehinna, near The Plantation Villa, where our founder, Ishara, witnessed firsthand the daily challenges faced by underprivileged families.

From these beginnings, our mission has grown to develop resilient communities across Sri Lanka—addressing poverty at its roots while restoring dignity, opportunity, and balance with nature.

This mission represents a meaningful way to address the root causes of poverty by:

  • Providing basic needs and support long-term stability.
  • Strengthening education, healthcare, and community institutions.
  • Restoring the balance between people and nature.

02
Our Mission is to Restore Forests, Protect Wildlife and Reconnect People with Nature.

In Sri Lanka, deforestation driven by poverty is destroying forests and putting elephants, leopards, and biodiversity at risk.

In the UK, our focus is on rewilding efforts to combat habitat loss and support declining native species like hedgehogs and bees. We have planted 2000 native trees to create new woodland, and are protecting wild rough areas to create vital natural habitats for breeding, shelter from predators, and foraging for smaller living creatures.

Through this initiative, Metta Trust works to:

  • Restore forests and vital natural habitats
  • Protect endangered animals
  • Reconnect people with nature to support long-term well-being

03
Our Mission Is to Support Mental Health in the UK Through Community and Ancient Wisdom

Through our “True Happiness” initiative, we support mental wellbeing by addressing the root causes of suffering we witness at Plantation Villa. Many people arrive burdened by anxiety, depression, trauma, and a loss of purpose — often shaped by a modern lifestyle driven by material success and constant stimulation.

From this understanding, our mission has grown to help individuals rediscover inner stability and lasting contentment by:

  • Sharing practical tools for health and wellbeing across the UK

  • Promoting ancient practices such as Yoga, Meditation, Mindfulness and Metta (loving-kindness).

  • Bringing communities together through educational and recreational events
